The Salt House project is an expression of protection to natural creatures. After doing multiple research about different species around cocoa beach, I found that there are 4300 species living around cocoa beach. Of this number, there are 72 species that are facing endangered conditions. Within this number, sea turtles are the most that need to be protected. Therefore, This project’s intention is to design protection for sea turtles.

For this shell structure, I want to make a temporary structure that can be removed after achieving the purpose. This is because I don’t want to make something artificial that occupies nature forever. In order to achieve this intention, I designed a salt crystal project. Initially, I will build a steel frame and lay out a bunch of ropes wrapping it. And then I’ll make the ropes that sink into the seawater and make them absorb seawater, and the whole structure will finally be covered by salt crystals.
